Old may be the answer

Monday, June the freaking 1st where has the time gone? , at 05:30 a.m.

"You're gonna need a bigger boat", Good Morning and junk and stuff,

As we wake up this morning to new videos and stories from last evening and days prior concerning the protests happening and the riots occurring all over the United States (and the World), one cannot help but wonder how in the hell we got to be where we are, given the times we live in and the strange course we have taken to get here. Don't look at me, as I certainly do not have any real answers to provide solutions to these vexing issues and times we are living in. There are no simple solutions, I don't care what anyone else has said on the matter.

As for my opinion on any of this subject and really on any other, I and my fellow over 55+ seniors have been deemed largely irrelevant and my generation is much too old to have a useful opinion on such matters (or anything really). This is largely the opinion of most young people even though they know better and even though they don't necessarily subscribe to it, that is until they need jail or bond money. It's a phenomenon of modern life and the quixotic nature of attaining what one ascribes to be. We marginalize our elders and do it so much and so often that in response the elders just sort of quit offering advice even when asked for contributions. That turns it into a self-fulfilling prophecy which is a concept that basically says if you will it to be true, it pretty much is.

That's the short version, read an explanation in the link provided.  (The Self Fulfilling Prophecy)

To me, that does not and should not surprise you, I think it is pretty much how nature intends it to be. I am very glad I am not an old Eskimo however because I do not want to be set adrift on an ice floe but beyond that, all the marching, protesting, looting, burning, and running is a young man's (or women's) game. I'm pretty sure that is why you do not see any looters or rioters or marchers that are over the age of about 60 years old. We not only have given up hope, and we already know better than to rob and smash a Target or burn an Auto-Zone, we just know that real effective change has never happened at the end of a Molotov cocktail and besides that, walking that far with a cane or not makes our sciatica act up. No one has really ever benefited from robbing a liquor store and then burning it down. It is a young man's game and that's probably also the reason why you really don't see many older patrol cops either. By the age of 60, the vast majority of them have either retired or have switched to non-patrol jobs. There may be a small kernel of truth here somewhere though if you look for it hard enough.

Maybe the voice we need to hear right now isn't a politician at all. Maybe the rioters and the looters and the protesters would benefit from a few minutes of conversation with their older selves or with their elders in general. Maybe that is who the youth needs to hear from, if for nothing more than to learn how to organize effectively.

I used to tell my children when they were growing up that there was only one major difference between an 18-year-old and a 60-year-old and that difference is time. The 60-year-old has screwed up a lot over the past 40 or 50 years and has those mistakes to look back on when thinking about what went wrong and what to try or do next. Old folks have more experience at making bad decisions and that is the biggest reason you should seek their counsel when things have gone sideways or when you think they are getting ready to. Usually, though a young person just thinks that the old person has just "lost touch" or because they are now older they can't have an opinion that applies to this day and age because they don't even know how to use their iPhones!! That's the hysterical part, we know you are getting ready to mess up big time, and at this point, we just hope you are smart enough to get misdemeanors and not felonies when the police arrest you.

Antiques are only valuable when they are furniture I guess

  1. The Space-X Dragon capsule has successfully docked with the Internation Space station and temporarily maybe give the station two new worker bees. The launch, trajectory, equipment, and systems all seemed to perform flawlessly.

For all the conspiracy theorists in the room, They made it to orbit and gave Hollywood enough time to get the sets built. I wonder what substance was in those big assed chemtrails from the launch? Probably radioactive markers to allow "them" to track "us" from one location to another.

  2. Stunning and needed footage from all around the country is pouring in which shows the police and sheriff deputies respecting the rights of the rioters and even participating in some of the marches. There were even some videos of some hugs between the two groups, of cops delivering water for them, each other, and some holding hands in solidarity.

I was and am very happy to see that footage instead of looting on every station.

  3. I really cannot believe the total lack of a nationwide voice on these issues from anywhere and from anyone. We haven't even heard from those two hypocrites Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. I guess they haven't found a victim they can co-opt to get on a stage somewhere. All of the usual sources are pretty quiet with the glaring exception of famous black people. Virtually all of them have spoken, everyone from Kevin Hart to Michael Jordan has weighed in, which was nice but no one has emerged as a leader, as someone to guide the masses away from burning buildings and into marches and discussions to make things better. Major reform at the end of a Molotov cocktail has never worked.

The only voices we have heard from that are non-blacks are people like Rudy Giuliani who have been vocal about the "liberals" who run Minneapolis and have been vocal about their brand of inept management running the town, like that will help us. Rudy has never seen a microphone he didn't want to make verbal love too. They say the most dangerous place to be is between Rudy and a Microphone. The National Security Adviser, Robert C. O'Brien chose this most opportune time to educate America and to debunk the "myth" that there is systemic racism in the police departments across America. Yep thankx, Rudy, Thankx Robert, that's exactly what we needed right now. It's what we needed to hear. Minneapolis is run by liberal nincompoops and the cops aren't the problem.

We shall take your advice under advisement.

  4. Several American cities are now under strict curfew orders. Basically, in those cities,  it is now illegal to be on the streets from sundown to sunup without a very good reason. Coming home from work, for example, is a good reason, yet going to the convenience store for beer and cigarettes is not. Or something like that. Hell what do I know, sundown is my bedtime, I'm old remember? The act of being caught out and about though is a fairly wicked punishment no matter where you look. Most towns have told the police to arrest you and put you in jail at least until sunup, they will also write you a ticket for this which usually carries a pretty hefty fine as well. One I saw for Atlanta I think was about $1,000.

Several police forces across the nation have terminated officers with a quickness if videos have surfaced showing them using what is deemed to be excessive force. At least two officers on the Atlanta Police Department have been fired for that offense last night. Other measures have been handed down in other cities however the point is to say that everybody is watching and that cannot be very comfortable a feeling for any cop, whether it's a good one or not.

In other footage being shown the National Guard has been deployed to great effect in Washington DC, Atlanta, and Minneapolis (Other places too I know). Some footage has been widely distributed of a military patrol of platoon size or so, coming down a residential street yelling at onlookers to get inside their houses. People were standing around gawking at them, they were being told to go inside and no one moved. You can hear a leader of a sort say "Light 'em up", and then a soldier kneels down and fires at least one but maybe two pepper balls directly at the noncomplying citizenry from an air-powered rifle where they were filming and commenting from their porch. They did not move or respond to the soldiers at all, and when the pepper balls started flying everyone one of them acted like "What the hell?", one girl got hit in the leg but EVERYBODY SCRAMBLED their asses into the house and slammed the door. They didn't hesitate to move when the pepper balls started flying. I'm just glad it wasn't a 9mm round.

  5. Bindi Irwin (the cutie!) got married March of this year. She kept her father's famous last name however saying that her logic was in keeping his name it was a tribute to who he was and it made her feel closer to him.

    She's such a cutie!!

    Crikey!!
